Started with a few color roughs of different concepts for my professor/”client” to choose from. He settled on the cake.
A couple of wash tests helped me narrow down the final look I wanted to shoot for. I wanted to play with a looser line and let the watercolor be itself.
Two more passes based on professor’s feedback. The second is a much cleaner wash with more economical lines.
And the final. The perfect balance of mess and a good focal distance.
