Evansville Museum Ad Campaign

This was a class project where we designed a full ad campaign for a nonprofit. I chose my hometown museum. It was a favorite childhood destination for me. And for being a rather small museum, it possessed some cool features. I decided the campaign should highlight some of the best attractions, and introduce some new ones that would increase traffic. At the time I believe they were discussing adding a new wing, and I dreamt about what they could do if money were no object.

For a nonprofit, the modes of advertisement can be limited, so I considered some impactful but inexpensive print ads, including simply posting fliers with tear-off strips on light poles! But through revisions and feedback from my instructor, I ended up focusing on the theme of expansion, and some of the more mainstream advertising channels.

They already had a planetarium and a locomotive that one could walk through. They also had a permanent exhibit with dioramas of Lincoln’s childhood home and other surroundings from that time period. I loved that one, but I think they’ve since gotten rid of it. Anyway, I also thought they would do well with a cafe overlooking the Ohio River. Also, dinosaur bones. Every history museum needs dinosaur bones.
